Changing the way training is delivered

There is always resistance to change. Why do something new when the old way works just fine? Delivery of clinical training is a case in point. Subjects like anaphylaxis updates, showing nurses how to use the ‘MUST’ tool and explaining a nurse’s persoonal responsibilities when handing out medicines under a PGD are good examples. Typically these subjects are taught by clinical trainers in the classroom which means that nurses have to travel to a training centre. Justifying the use of e-learning

In any organisation, obtaining budget for new projects is difficult. In an envirnoment like the NHS where there are always more worthwhile projects than available budget, this exercise is always difficult. Clinical training is often delivered by existing staff in a traditional classroom environment and is therefore seen as ‘free’.
